On Wednesday 27th November, Jon Cruddas MP was joined by local ward councillors and a delegation of local residents in order to present the 10,000 strong petition against the prison proposals at City Hall.
The widow and daughter of Nobel Laureate, Seamus Heaney, have been presented with a parliamentary motion about the poet, signed by 137 MPs. Among them was local Dagenham and Rainham MP Jon Cruddas.
Over the past few weeks, following the success of last years competition, Jon’s constituency office has been filling up with thousands of bright, creative and innovative Christmas cards designed by pupils from all corners of the constituency; Dagenham, Rainham, South Hornchurch and Elm Park.
The project will look to provide raised beds, planters, fruit trees and much more in a designated area of the estate. The object is to provide the children with hands on and fun experience of sustainability.
The latest statistics are very positive and could mark a turning point in the local economy. This month Dagenham and Rainham has the lowest rate of claimants since 2010. However there is still work to be done.
