Remploy presentation

Over the past few months Jon has been running an online forum for local residents to send their best wishes to the sacked Remploy workers. The amount of messages that were received as a result was astounding.

Following the online survey Jon collated the messages from the people of Dagenham and Rainham, and on Friday 22.03.2013 presented them in the form of a plaque to representatives of the Remploy factory.

On Friday 22.03.2013 Jon Cruddas MP met with local residents and Havering Council’s Head of Street care to hand over a petition raised by local parents. The petition was a response to a road accident involving a child and calls for proper crossing facilities.

Dagenham Police Station saved!

Following many months of consultation, decisions have finally been made with regard to the boroughs police stations.

On 5th October 2012 Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham spoke at the 'Ron Todd Memorial Lecture'. The focus of the lecture was Young People: Crime, Peace and Politics. 

Ronald Todd was the general secretary of the Transport and General Workers' Union (TGWU) from 1985 until 1992, then the largest general trade union in the UK. Todd also gained a reputation for his commitment to human rights and his work on nuclear disarmament.

The number of unemployed claimants in Dagenham and Rainham constituency in February 2013 was 3,587. This represents a rate of 7.4% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 122nd highest of the 650 UK constituencies. (1st = highest rate of unemployment, 650th = lowest rate of unemployment.)

Regeneration of the Leys Estate in Dagenham

Bulldozing crews have recently moved in to the Leys Estate in Dagenham and have begun work. The work is being undertaken as part of Barking and Dagenham Councils Estate Renewal Programme.

Westminster reception for Saint Francis Hospice

On Wednesday evening Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham attended a reception at Westminster. The reception was for the Community Nurses of Saint Francis Hospice.
