Run 4 Life is a platform for local charities across Barking and Dagenham to raise funds. The event will take place on Sunday 9th April where residents will run or walk 5km or 10km for their chosen charity or community group. The event will start at Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club on Victoria Road, Dagenham, RM10 7XL from 8am on the day.
The event has been organised by the Power House Community Network and supporters of the event include: Barking and Dagenham Council Volunteer Service, Dagenham and Redbridge FC, The Peace Alliance, LBBD, the Barking and Dagenham Chamber of Commerce, and the Metropolitan Police.
Jon Cruddas MP said: “this is a fantastic initiative. Smaller charities and community groups in the area will really benefit from this. Not only is it raising funds, it is also a great way to raise awareness of their causes and inspire new people to get involved and support their work.”
Power House Community Network are looking for volunteers to help promote the event, and charities that may want to enlist a runner to fundraise for them. Charities or local community groups that wish to participate can contact directly either via the website: www.phcn.org.uk on the phone: 020 8517 5827 or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Jon Cruddas MP is encouraging local residents, and in particular those that are part of his community volunteer network to help promote the event.
Jon added: “I hope that many people will get involved in this event, whether it is taking part in the run or helping to spread the word and inspire others to take part – there are many ways to help.”
Ways you can help
- Spread the word by speaking with a local charity or community group and encouraging them to get involved.
- Join the run yourself and raise funds for a local group or charity that means something to you.
- Ask local shops if they would be willing to put a promotional poster up in their window.
- Ask local pubs if they would be willing to put up a promotional poster by the bar.
- Ask local community and children’s centres if they would display a promotional poster.
Posters can be collected directly from Power House Community Network using the contact details above, or they can be collected via Jon Cruddas MP – just drop an email to his volunteer coordinator via: email@example.com or phone the office and ask for Andrew on: 020 8984 7854
