Where is the Care is an innovative family run organisation that seeks to raise awareness of how vulnerable elderly people and their families can find the help they need. The family launched the initiative in response to their own poor experience of care, and aim to help people through complaints procedures. The website is a great source of information regarding not only the negatives of poor care but also the best practice of where good care has benefitted families.

There is an excellent resource centre of useful links that people can turn to if they are unsure where to seek the help they need for their particular care issues: http://whereisthecare.co.uk/useful-links/

With the notion that forewarned is forearmed the family offer the details of their lengthy complaint process to highlight the kind of problems people might face, with an insight on how they dealt with the challenges: http://whereisthecare.co.uk/us/complaint-process/

Where is the Care is currently engaging with Basildon, Harlow, Broomfield, Southend hospitals, Thurrock and ECC Social Care, CCGs, East of England Ambulance and other organisations who are all taking on feedback as another channel of information for them.

The initiative has attracted cross party support and Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham & Rainham is the latest Member of Parliament to add his name to the list of endorsers.

Jon said: “I fully support the work being carried out by Where is the Care. It is vitally important that with an ageing population we ensure people know what services are available to them. Organisations such as this play a positive role in raising awareness – helping to make sure people don’t fall through the cracks, not knowing where to turn.

“In the end we all want the best for our elderly friends and relatives, but with increasing pressures many local authorities and care providers are struggling. I commend the sterling work of initiatives such as Where is the Care, and in the future when concerns are raised with me I will be directing my constituents to the website.”

Where is the Care travel all across Essex holding street stalls and will be in Romford Shopping Hall on Friday 6th November.
