Campaigns include Jon’s ‘C2C Service Consultation’, ‘Save Hornchurch Job Centre’ and ‘Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour’ campaign. With spirits high and lots of information to be shared Jon is looking to his constituency for help, Jon needs you!

Local volunteer features in World Delirium Day webinar

The office of Jon Cruddas MP is excited to announce that one of its star volunteers, Janis Cottee, will be participating in a webinar for Dementia and Older People’s Mental Health this upcoming Wednesday, March 15th, 2017 from 12:00 – 13:00 in honour of World Delirium Day.

Janis, who has gone from strength to strength at Jon’s office, has also been invited to speak at numerous public events on the subject of dementia over the last few years – relaying her own personal story.

Local volunteer speaks at UK Dementia Congress 2016

Earlier this month, the UK Dementia Congress held its 11th annual multi-disciplinary, dementia-focussed event and exhibition in the UK. The event provides a fantastic opportunity for people living with dementia, carers, and other professionals to learn from and be inspired by others’ experiences. The event which this year was open to the public for the first time, aims to help people make connections, and build bridges towards best practice in their own localities.

Volunteer Success Story

Back in 2011/12 local resident Dean Haxell was made redundant due to the closure of the Remploy factory in Barking which offered employment to workers with disabilities. The closure of the factory had a huge impact locally and Jon Cruddas MP fought the closures at the time.

Fresh organic fruit and veg grown in Dagenham

Jon Cruddas MP has been a big supporter of the Dagenham Starter Farm since it opened, and has continued to praise the work being done there. The project was originally funded by the Local Food Fund, part of the Big Lottery, this funding lasted until March 2014, when the Starter Farm also became fully certified as organic. Now the project aims to become self-financing through sales of produce.

Jon Cruddas MP hosts successful volunteer breakfast morning for a second year

This year’s volunteer breakfast was another huge success, seeing around 80 local residents in attendance. All those who attended are regular volunteers helping to improve the local area through the network which has grown substantially throughout the past year.

Following the success of last year’s breakfast morning and the growing numbers of active volunteers in Jon’s community network, he has decided to once again host a thank-you event. The event will be held on Friday 12th July in recognition of all the sterling work his volunteer network has done throughout the year to make the local community a better, stronger and safer place.
