Tesco Neighbourhood Food Collection

This month, Tesco will be holding its fifth Neighborhood Food Collection campaign, with support from the Trussell Trust and FareShare. In stores across the country, Tesco shoppers will be encouraged to donate extra food to be collected and distributed to food banks for the needy this holiday season. Last July, this collection was able to provide 5.1 meals to the hungry. The first weeklong collection will be held between Monday 24th and Saturday 29th November. Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham, continues to support this campaign, as he has during past collections.

Tesco drivers needed £30-£34k in Dagenham & Rainham

Tesco have recently been in touch with Jon Cruddas MP regarding their current job vacancies. They are looking for experienced drivers who are ‘willing to roll up their sleeves and get things done’. The positions are on full-time permanent contracts and applicants are required to hold a C + E license with no restrictions. The job pays £30-£34k per annum with premiums paid for unsociable working hours and time and a half for Bank Holidays/overtime.

National Food Collection provides 5.1 million meals

Tesco’s held their fourth National Food Collection earlier this month, in conjunction with the Trussell Trust who provide three days emergency to individuals and families who are in crisis, and FareShare who fight hunger and distribute food to local charities. The collection was in all Tesco’s stores across the country and aimed to get enough food to provide 5 million meals for families across the country. Jon Cruddas, local MP for Dagenham and Rainham has supported the project in the past and always encourages local residents to come out in support of the National Food Collection.

Jon Cruddas MP visits Brady Primary School breakfast club

A few weeks ago Jon visited Brady Primary School and attended their daily Breakfast Club. This club has been going on for a long period now and provides children with a great start to the day with a healthy meal and the ability to use the computers in the IT suite. The club had been at threat of finishing due to the costs involved but we are grateful to say that Tesco have stepped in and provided the school with £750 worth of vouchers to continue the club for the foreseeable future.

Small businesses in Dagenham and Rainham are being championed by local MP Jon Cruddas who is taking concrete steps to support and protect them. As part of his campaign Jon brokered a meeting between local florist Lisa Clark and competitor Tesco.
