School places in Havering

Government projections predict that by next year Havering will need an extra 1,416 places, and by 2022 the London Borough of Havering will need 5,000 extra primary school places to accommodate the rising population. With this in mind Havering is using government grants to invest in a number of extension projects to increase capacity at existing schools.

The number of unemployed claimants in Dagenham and Rainham constituency in May 2014 was 2,249. This represents a rate of 4.6% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 170th highest of the 650 UK constituencies. (1st = highest rate of unemployment, 650th = lowest rate of unemployment.)

MP keeps up pressure to deal with Fly-Tipping at Arnolds Field, Rainham

Arnolds Field in Rainham has recently come under scrutiny again with another rise in illegal fly tipping. In the past the issue has been raised with Havering Council’s StreetCare department by Jon Cruddas MP, Member of Parliament for Dagenham and Rainham. The area is somewhat notorious for dumping waste and this has become a rising concern for local residents.

The Dagenham and Rainham area has had many issues with fly tipping in the past but local MP Jon Cruddas has been responding quickly to concerns voiced to him by raising the issues with the council as and when they occur.

Damyns Hall Aerodrome Public Meeting

A recent public meeting saw many Rainham residents express their concerns with the continued use of Damyns Hall Aerodrome as a pop concert venue.

Last year saw the site play host to a number of events that effected residents. Numerous complaints were made with the level of noise coming from site during the evening, the number of events that took place annually on the site, the amount of rubbish left on site and on roads surrounding the site, as well as the amount of vehicles that blocked up local roads when an event was taking place.

Melville Road and Cowper Road Parking in Rainham

Jon Cruddas Member of Parliament for Dagenham and Rainham, Incorporating South Hornchurch and Elm Park, has been contacted by a number of residents in Melville and Cowper Road, Rainham regarding the ongoing parking problems there. Many residents have complained to Jon that commuters using Rainham Rail Station use Melville and Cowper Road to park their cars up before heading to work and leave them there till late in the evening resulting in residents not be able to park in their own road.

Wennington Extraction Site Update

Jon Cruddas MP, Member of Parliament for Dagenham and Rainham, Incorporating South Hornchurch and Elm Park, has been running a campaign against plans to establish a Gravel and Mineral Extraction Site in Wennington Village on the 25 hectares of land adjacent to the A1306 opposite the new Links Golf Course which is currently being built.

Jon Cruddas MP has been contacted by many residents within Rainham and Wennington over the past few months regarding proposals to establish a Gravel and Mineral Extraction site on East Hall Farm in the heart of Wennington.

Havering Aggregates Limited, the company behind the proposals, are hosting a public exhibition of its planning application proposals for the site. The exhibition will be held at The Church of St Mary & St Peter, Wennington Road, in Wennington between 9:30am and 5pm on Saturday 1st February.

Wennington Village Mineral Extraction

Ingrebourne Valley Ltd have recently revealed plans to use land at Wennington Village for a new gravel extraction site. The Mineral extraction site is being proposed for the 25 hectares of land adjacent to the A1306 opposite the new Links Golf Course which is currently being built.
