London Air Ambulance parliamentary reception

Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham joined politicians from across London to pledge support for London's Air Ambulance, the charity that delivers a 24/7 advanced trauma team to critically injured people.

Jon said: “it was a pleasure to attend this event, the London Air Ambulance provides a vital service – over the last few years I have pledged my support of the campaign to commission a second air ambulance. I commend all the hard work and dedication of the team.”

New C2C trains

The first set of 24 new carriages was delivered to C2C last weekend, and they will enter passenger service within the next few weeks. This will be the start of a four-phase plan to increase capacity, culminating in a new timetable in January that will address the top issues for passengers in each area:

The total number of unemployed claimants in Dagenham and Rainham constituency in September 2016 was 1,612. This represents a rate of 3.2% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 174th highest of the 650 UK constituencies. (1st = highest claimant rate, 650th = lowest claimant rate.) The equivalent UK claimant rate was 2.4%.

Local MP supports #StopTheCharge campaign

Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham has recently thrown his support behind a new campaign, which seeks to support people in debt crisis that suffer from mental health issues. The campaign has been launched by the Money and mental Health Policy Institute, and has brought cross-party support, as well as the backing of a number of charities such as Mind, Rethink and StepChange.

Question to Sadiq Khan on Unlawful Encampments

On Friday 30th September the Barking and Dagenham Chamber of Commerce organised a meeting of key stakeholders across multiple industries and the three boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering, and Redbridge. The meeting was called as an urgent response to the detrimental effect unlawful encampments are having on local businesses, future investment opportunities, and local services, including both council and emergency.

Circle Housing Beam Park Development Consultation

On Saturday 15th October Jon Cruddas MP sent his Havering team to Circle Housings’ public exhibition for the redevelopment of 90 New Road, Rainham. The exhibition was to promote proposals which will make up part of the Beam Park Masterplan, the plans include 700 – 750 new properties and will incorporate the new Beam Park C2C rail station.

Bin it, Don't Block it

Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham has been contacted by Thames Water about a campaign that they have been running called Bin it, don’t block it. The campaign aims to stop people from pouring fat, oil and grease down the drain and flushing wet wipes down the toilet. Pouring fat, oil and grease down the drain and flushing wet wipes down the toilet mix together in the sewers creating disgusting “fatbergs” which blocks pipes and cause stinks.

World Mental Health Day 2016

Monday 10th October (today) is World Mental Health Day, and with rising mental health issues nationally this year more charities and organisations are working together to raise awareness. This year the theme set by the Mental Health Foundation is psychological first aid, and they are encouraging ‘Tea & Talk’ events across the country to help raise awareness about the support that people can provide to those in distress.
