Jan 14, 2016

Last night there was an overwhelming response at my public consultation meeting; over six hundred people attended which led to us having to hold two consecutive meetings in the May & Baker Eastbrook Community Club.

*Eastbrook consultation meeting postponed*

Due to the parliamentary debate and vote concerning extending airstrikes to Syria, the meeting regarding the possible development of a mosque at the May & Baker Community Club will now be postponed. The vote will take place on Wednesday and is a matter of national security, meaning that it is vital for all MP’s to be in attendance.

In the last few days volunteers have delivered surveys to half of the Eastbrook area, and they are being returned to Jon Cruddas MP in the hundreds. The survey was a response to rumours surrounding the possible development of land at the May and Baker Community Club. The consultation survey asks what residents think about the future of Dagenham East in terms of job creation and economic stability.

Dagenham East consultation update

Nov 05, 2015

Today Jon Cruddas MP launched his public consultation of Eastbrook Ward, to find out what people think of recent proposals to build a mosque on the May and Baker Community Club land, next to the Sanofi regeneration site. In the most recent discussions with the trustees a prayer room in the community club has been alluded to rather than the initial plans for a mosque. However, a final decision has not yet been made on the future of the site. As with all developments in the local area Jon wants to know what the local residents think.

What future for Dagenham East?

Oct 27, 2015

Over the past two weeks many residents have been contacting Jon Cruddas regarding the proposed plans to build a mosque on the Sanofi site near Dagenham East. Last month the Trustees of the May and Baker Community Club were approached by Barking & Dagenham Council on behalf of Barking Mosque, and a meeting took place with council Leader Cllr Darren Rodwell, along with a member of the council planning department. A general proposal was been agreed in principle with little or no consultation with local residents.
