On Friday 22.03.2013 Jon Cruddas MP met with local residents and Havering Council’s Head of Street care to hand over a petition raised by local parents. The petition was a response to a road accident involving a child and calls for proper crossing facilities.

The number of unemployed claimants in Dagenham and Rainham constituency in February 2013 was 3,587. This represents a rate of 7.4% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 122nd highest of the 650 UK constituencies. (1st = highest rate of unemployment, 650th = lowest rate of unemployment.)

Westminster reception for Saint Francis Hospice

On Wednesday evening Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham attended a reception at Westminster. The reception was for the Community Nurses of Saint Francis Hospice.

National Housing Federation statistics reveal that 1,216 households will be hit by the government’s ‘Bedroom Tax’ locally in Dagenham, Rainham, South Hornchurch and Elm Park. It is predicted that these households will lose an average of £728 a year. The report is broken down by constituency and highlights that the Bedroom Tax will hit 660,000 households nationwide, two thirds of them home to someone with a disability.
