Jon Cruddas MP - volunteer breakfast 2014

Jul 18, 2014

Today (Friday18th July) Jon Cruddas MP held his third annual volunteer thank you breakfast. This year 80 of Jon’s key volunteers in the area were treated to a full English at Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club.

From the start back in 2012 the volunteer network has grown to include over 1,900 local residents. The goal was to increase community engagement in Dagenham, Rainham, South Hornchurch and Elm Park where people were beginning to fall through the cracks that government cuts created locally.

Leys Breakfast Club: It's Great

Apr 04, 2014

Jon Cruddas MP visited Leys Primary School in Dagenham to see for himself how well the student Breakfast Club scheme, supported by Kelloggs, was running. The Leys Primary School Breakfast Club, set up under the leadership of Head teacher Mr Krog, allows youngsters to have a full breakfast before the start of the school day.

The introduction of the scheme has improved the ability of children to learn by making sure they are not hungry and able to concentrate in classes. The scheme has also been successfully utilised by working families.

Jon Cruddas MP visits Brady Primary School breakfast club

Jun 08, 2012

A few weeks ago Jon visited Brady Primary School and attended their daily Breakfast Club. This club has been going on for a long period now and provides children with a great start to the day with a healthy meal and the ability to use the computers in the IT suite. The club had been at threat of finishing due to the costs involved but we are grateful to say that Tesco have stepped in and provided the school with £750 worth of vouchers to continue the club for the foreseeable future.
