Resident parking issue in Whalebone Ward

Jon Cruddas Member of Parliament for Dagenham and Rainham has been contacted by a number of residents in Whalebone Ward regarding the ongoing parking problems there. Over 150 local residents have presented Jon with a petition highlighting that commuters using Chadwell Heath Station use much of the nearby space to park their cars up before heading to work, and leave them there till late in the evening resulting in residents not be able to park in their own road.

Jon Cruddas MP visited the roads recently to see the problems for himself. The areas with the biggest problems are Kenneth Road, Heath Road, Eric Road, Cecil Road, and St. Chads Gardens. One resident told Jon that there have been many heated arguments in the area regarding parking.

The residents expressed their wish for Barking and Dagenham Council to introduce a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) to deal with the problem.

This week volunteers delivered a survey to every household on the roads in question. The results of the survey will be collated and taken to Barking and Dagenham Council. Much like the process Jon successfully used to help the residents of Melville and Cowper Roads in Rainham last year.

Jon Cruddas MP said: "Not being able to park in your own road is a massive problem and a real inconvenience for many people. I spoke to a number of residents who were all of the same opinion; a CPZ would be the only way to deal with the problem parking. I am interested to hear from all the residents about this."
