Participatory City - Barking and Dagenham's Sustainable Revolution

Every One Every Day is the very pinnacle of participatory innovation, this project will see our community change for the better, forever. The Participatory City Foundation with the support of the Big Lottery Fund and other organisations has outlined a five year transformative programme for Barking and Dagenham.

The revolutionary £6.4m new project called Every One Every Day, is a vision for a sustainable community with a network of 25,000 people, all collaborating together.

There will be community kitchens where friends, relatives and new acquaintances can “batch cook” healthy meals together, a shared urban farm to grow food, free work spaces for local people to develop 100 new businesses and five free-to-use High Street shops to sell wares - a staggering 250 community projects in total.

B&D is really fortunate to have been chosen for the first venture by the new Participatory City Foundation, which secured funding from the Big Lottery Fund and has the full backing of the council. Nothing on this scale has been attempted in the UK before. I have no doubt it will create a model over the next five years that will be an example to cities not just across the UK but across the globe!

Jon Cruddas MP commented: “The project is particularly dear to my heart as I have spoken a lot about building a “good society” of community, hope and contribution. That notion crystallises around Every One Every Day, which aims to promote sustainability and neighbourliness.

“Tessy Britton is the inspirational chief executive of the project, and I will be meeting her in the next few days. I’m truly excited about catching-up with Tessy to discuss how I can offer my assistance and support.”

The Participatory City Foundation are currently employing a range of people to work on the project, helping to develop and deliver a revolutionary vision of our community. Would you like to be part of it?
