Breton's Green Belt Threatened by Potential Development

Today Jon Cruddas MP opposed a recent planning application made to Havering Council for four new residential homes to be built on Green Belt adjacent to Brettons Cottages on Rainham Road. Concerns were raised by residents that any compromise of the Green Belt could lead to a greater number of applications in the future.

If granted, the construction of four new dwellings would see the loss of a community football pitch, which is used on a weekly basis by residents. It would also see removal of flora and fauna as well as some land infill.

Jon Cruddas MP said: "The applicants listed many reasons as to how they feel the proposed development would have minimal impact on the Green Belt area. However, I am concerned that any compromise of the Green Belt could lead to a greater number of applicants in the future. This proposal could potentially endanger further Green Belt sites across Havering."
