MP supports petition to save last bank in Elm Park

Local MP Jon Cruddas has been contacted by many constituents in the past few weeks with regards to the planned closure of the local Lloyds TSB in Elm Park at the parade of shops by the station. A significant number of residents in Elm Park have petitioned against the closure of the branch; which is the only bank in the local parade and the surrounding area.

It is a real cause for concern for the resident's as the closure would result in them having to travel as far as either Romford or Dagenham Heathway. This would be a journey of between fifteen and twenty minutes by car and twenty to twenty-five minutes via public transport.

Jon said: "If the branch goes, it will be a massive inconvenience for the local residents. I am in full support of the petition and wish them the best of luck. The petition needs two hundred signatures, but hope to get many more. I'd be very grateful if people could support the residents and sign up via the link on my website."
