Jon Cruddas MP commented: "It is a privilege to be returned as the Member of Parliament for Dagenham and Rainham. This campaign was a real testament to the work of the past two years following on from the 2015 election. I want to thank the residents that voted, and put their faith in me to stand up in the House of Commons and represent their views.

"The help and support we had on this campaign was astronomical. Over 500 community volunteers were out on a regular basis speaking to other residents about the local concerns, and on top of this we had people from all over London joining us on the campaign trail.

"I want to thank my team, who were at the core of this campaign. They are the most amazing group of people I have had the pleasure of working with in a long time."

Jon's office is back in full swing now, taking up residents' concerns and campaigning on local issues to improve the area. Jon's office receives an average of 1,000 correspondence a week, and working with his team he endeavours to answer all queries.

Jon Cruddas added: "One thing is clear from the outcome of this election. The Tories don't have carte blanche, or the by-in of the public to enforce the harrowing cuts they had planned ? this gives the opposition greater power to fight back against such cuts.

"As a community we have had many victories over the years ? together we fought off government plans to dump a super-prison in the area; we also secured a deal with a top university to save the Dagenham Civic Centre. There are still battles to be won, and I look forward to working alongside the community over the next few years to ensure the best possible outcome for our area."
