Save Dagenham and Hornchurch Jobcentres

Feb 17, 2017

Last month the Government proposed to close the Dagenham Jobcentre on Chequers Lane, meaning the nearest Jobcentre for residents in Dagenham would be in Barking on Wakering Rd. Similarly the Jobcentre in Hornchurch is set to close leaving Romford Town Centre as the closest service for residents of Rainham, South Hornchurch and Elm Park. Jon Cruddas MP was outraged at the proposals and sought to discuss the plans with the Minister for Employment and the DWP.

Getting Brexit right

Feb 16, 2017

There's been a lot of nonsense talked since last year's referendum. In my opinion, talk of trying to slow down our exit from the EU or even stop it altogether is completely misplaced.

We had a referendum. The people were asked and they answered.

Now, most of us, including me, just want the Prime Minister to get on with it.

The negotiations between us and the EU will be complicated and there's a lot to get right but I think we can be optimistic about the future.

In general terms, do you think the Government should retain the following EU laws and make them British laws?

MP launches c2c consultation

Feb 09, 2017

Many local residents have contacted their MP Jon Cruddas feeling dissatisfied with the service at Rainham’s c2c station. Residents have raised the issue of overcrowding on the platform and the inadequate number of carriages used during peak hours at the station. With National Express securing in recent weeks an agreement in principle with Trentitalia for the acquisition of c2c, residents are worried the new timetable released on January 9th by c2c and the upheaval of the new ownership will affect their commute to and from work.

January Barking and Dagenham Post column

Feb 01, 2017

Jon Cruddas MP writes a monthly column in the Barking and Dagenham Post. This month Jon spoke about the upcoming vote on Article 50 in Parliament.

"There's been a lot of nonsense talked since last year's referendum from all political parties. The people were asked, and they answered.
