Jon Cruddas MP Christmas Message 2015

Dec 18, 2015

This year has been a turbulent journey for Dagenham & Rainham with the local authority suffering even more cuts to services from the government, which has impacted hard on people that live and work in the local area. Throughout the year I have opposed the cuts, starting the year with the fight to save the Dagenham Civic Centre.

London schools financial crisis

Dec 09, 2015

London schools are facing unprecedented cuts of £760m a year by 2020. This is on top of the last five years of education cuts that removed support services for schools and cut sixth form funding by ten percent.  Education spending has been cut twice before, the highest cuts being 4% between 1982 and 1985. The Tories are now proposing to cut education spending by 8% nationally and 12% In London. Spending cuts in Barking and Dagenham specifically would total 13%.

Being one of few untouched green spaces in the local area, both residents and local Councillors as well as Jon Cruddas MP raised the issue.

Unfortunately the initial decision was taken and passed by Havering council.

*Eastbrook consultation meeting postponed*

Due to the parliamentary debate and vote concerning extending airstrikes to Syria, the meeting regarding the possible development of a mosque at the May & Baker Community Club will now be postponed. The vote will take place on Wednesday and is a matter of national security, meaning that it is vital for all MP’s to be in attendance.
